Over 2,000 entered. Only one drove away with the title. In front of a packed hall of over 1,000 industry professionals in Brașov, the 2025 edition of MECHANIC OF THE YEAR delivered its most intense final yet.
The big winner is Alecsandru Crăciun (34, Bucharest), an Automotive Engineering graduate and Aftersales Ambassador at the Ferrari dealership, who claimed both the Diagnosis category and the overall title, along with a brand-new Citroën C3. His victory came down to precision: step-by-step logic, disciplined analysis and getting closest to the real fault, the engine control unit power supply. The final pushed competitors to the limit, as they worked against the clock on identical cars with the same hidden defect, under the pressure of a live audience. The winner was decided based on the accuracy of the diagnostic process. “I’ve been working in the automotive field for over 10 years. The pressure made the difference – in a normal workshop, I would probably have solved it faster,” said the winner.
The Mechanics category was won by Remus Mușat (41, Brașov), who also received a €2,000 prize. The Car Repair Shop Award of the Year award went to Gold Fit (Târgu Mureș), part of the Ad Garage network.
“This was the largest edition so far, with over 2,000 participants. What stands out is that excellence comes from everywhere – from Ferrari specialists to small family workshops,” said Gabriel Zane, Marketing Director at Auto Total.
Now at its 14th edition, MECHANIC OF THE YEAR remains the benchmark for real technical performance in Romania’s automotive service industry, with over 20,000 participants since 2011.
