The grand prize is a Hyundai New i10 car, along with cash prizes and other surprises. Preselection rounds are happening nationwide, and registrations are officially open at www.mecaniculanului.ro (until November 3rd). Since 2010, more than 18,000 auto enthusiasts have taken on the challenge, going through numerous demanding tests that pushed their knowledge to the limit.
The pros put on a show. The last two remaining contestants, out of thousands, face off in a tense live final: two identical cars, the same defect, 30 minutes to fix it. Whoever starts the engine first drives home the repaired car, a Hyundai New i10. The final takes place on November 23rd in Bucharest.
Where champions are born. Stelian Bompa, the grand winner of the MECHANIC OF THE YEAR 2023 edition: "I feel it was a very important milestone in my career, I see it as recognition for all the hard work I've been doing every day for over 20 years. When I won, I felt an overwhelming wave of support from everyone: my family, friends, and work colleagues were all so happy for me! My advice to those who want to participate is to always stay updated on what's new in their field, get familiar with the competition format by watching previous editions, and not be discouraged if they don't win on their first try!"
